
30 Nov Payroll Submissions early for Christmas
WILL YOU BE PAYING YOUR STAFF EARLY THIS YEAR?
We know that some businesses operate between Christmas and New Year and some will be finishing on the 24th December to return in the New year. This means that with offices closed payroll reporting and submissions will need to be done earlier than usual.
SO WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO IF YOU ARE PAYING STAFF EARLY?
In 2019 HMRC introduced a permanent easement on reporting PAYE information in real time, to help when employers pay their employees earlier than usual over the Christmas period.
If you do pay early over the Christmas period, you need to report your normal (or contractual) payday as the payment date on your Full Payment Submission (FPS) and ensure that the FPS is submitted on or before this date.
For example:
If you pay on Thursday, 23rd December 2021 but the normal /contractual payment date is Thursday 30th December 2021, the payment date on the FPS should be 30 December and the submission must be sent in on or before 30 December.
